About Lydia

Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker #132169

Supervised by Dr. Antonio Marotta, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #32937

Lydia Poon earned her Master of Social Work from San Diego State University and works with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, and family conflict. Compassionate, warm, and honest, she creates an accepting space where clients can explore painful experiences, insecurities, and patterns without fear of judgment. Her approach is collaborative and supportive, with gentle challenges that help clients develop new perspectives and move toward meaningful change.

As an Asian American who grew up in the Middle East, Lydia brings cultural sensitivity to her work and understands how culture, religion, family, and environment can shape a person’s experiences. She takes time to understand each client within the context of their identity, relationships, and values rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Lydia’s experience includes supporting youth and families navigating self-harm, suicidal thoughts, ADHD, and high-stress conflict, as well as working with young adults experiencing psychosis, trauma, and significant mood disorders. She draws from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring treatment to each client’s needs, goals, and pace.
